The role of the Research Manager PECARN is to provide administrative leadership to the UC Davis 'research node' of the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), overseeing the organizational plan for the node, participating in strategic planning for the node, tracking and facilitating progress toward achievement of stated goals and supervising development and implementation of PECARN research in the node. The Research Manager PECARN provides overall program management for PECARN and Pediatric Emergency Medicine research, including managing research staff, proposals and awards, budget and accounting, strategic planning and research development and implementation. The Research Manager PECARN will work independently and will be responsible for decision-making under minimal supervision of the Principal Investigator.
Experience in research administration.
Knowledge of rules and regulations of extramural funding, accounting principles and practices, financial planning and analysis, budget development for research proposal generation.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team, managing recruitment of qualified personnel, personnel performance and staff development.
Experience managing a program, including articulating program mission, developing strategies to move the program forward, gathering information and evaluating program performance, developing and implementing policies to ensure successful conduct of research.
Excellent written communication.
Excellent organizational skills.
Clinical research experience in an emergency setting and/or multi-center research setting, including contract/grant administration and budgeting principles.
Knowledge of research methodologies used in clinical research, public health, emergency medicine or epidemiology.
Knowledge of regulations guiding human subjects research and clinical trials.
Knowledge of research proposals and pre/post award management.
Knowledge of scientific and medical terminology.
Strong working knowledge of and experience working with different computing environments and word processing programs.
