Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
4 Year Degree
REQUIRED - At least one year of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Possession of valid California RN and Nurse Practitioner license - Furnishing license and DEA within 3 months of hire - Master's degree from an accredited School of Nursing - Graduation from an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) program - National Certification as a PNP - CITI certification within 3 months if participating in clinical research - Current BLS - PALS and ACLS Certification
PREFERRED - Recent pediatric surgical, PACU or PICU experience highly desirable - At least two years recent clinical nursing experience in pediatric care highly desirable
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - Ability to work flexible hours - Able to lift 25 pounds, see well enough to read gauges and identify injuries - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
To provide independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an on-going basis. This includes the management of pediatric peri-operative care in collaboration with the anesthesia team. This may include preparation for surgical procedures, including evaluation of complex surgical cases, pre-operative evaluation and peri-operative care. Patient management decisions will be independent where appropriate after assessment of the patient and interdependent with consultation with an attending or other member of the team. NP's are expected to act as an expert resource person for health care providers including nurses, residents and other ancillary staff.
