The Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center invites applications from early/mid-career pediatric hematologists-oncologists to join our Pediatric Oncology Program at the Assistant Professor level. The appointee will be a faculty member of the Department of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School.
The responsibilities of the position will include the clinical care of pediatric patients with oncologic disorders in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. In addition, there will be significant non-clinical time set aside to work with the Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Hospital Information Service (IS) Team in the design and implementation of information technology applications used to support clinical care for pediatric cancer and hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients. The appointee will be expected to be the primary liaison between the oncology staff and the IS team, providing clinical guidance in and oversight of a number of projects, including creation and maintenance of order templates for chemotherapy and supportive care, and the development and testing of a new computerized chemotherapy order entry system. The appointee will also be part of the division’s quality/safety team, and will have opportunities to participate and lead initiatives. In addition, the appointee will be expected and encouraged to contribute to the Institute’s educational mission by teaching in both informal and formal settings and may be asked to participate in the departmental teaching and mentoring programs for fellows, graduate and medical students.
Qualified candidates should have an MD degree, be board-certified in pediatric hematology-oncology, and have experience caring for pediatric patients with oncologic and blood disorders. A background in clinical informatics and/or quality improvement/safety is desirable. Salary offered will be consistent with fair market rate and commensurate with experience.
