Shriners Hospitals for Children-Houston is relocating to the Shriners facility in Galveston, TX and currently has a need in the Galveston hospital for a full time Pediatric Physiatrist (PM&R) physician. The position entails the rehabilitative management of large burn injuries, post-operative orthopaedic Single Event Multiple Level (SEMLs) procedures for ambulatory cerebral palsy children, GMFCS level 5 cerebral palsy patients, prosthetics for traumatic and congenital limb deficiencies, traumatic brain injuries, poly-trauma, paralytic limb conditions, and post-operative selective dorsal rhizotomies. Participation in multi-disciplinary clinics for arthrogypotic conditions, prosthetics, and spina bifida are included in the responsibilities. Inpatient and outpatient patient care management is expected. In-hospital orthotic and prosthetic services are available as well pediatric PT, OT, speech, and respiratory therapy services. A comprehensive motion analysis laboratory is planned for the future.
Requirements: Completion of an ACGME accredited fellowship in Pediatric Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation along with American MD or DO Board Certification or Eligibility following a US based Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program. PALS certification is mandatory. Experience in pediatrics without pediatric fellowship can be substituted with appropriate experience.
