We would prefer candidates who have at least 5 years of experience post fellowship, but new graduates are welcome to apply as well. Our highly collaborative group consists of 7 fellowship -trained Pediatric Intensivists, three Physician Assistants, and the support of a wide array of subspecialties. Our 14 bed PICU admits approximately 800 children annually. Case mix is high acuity and spans the breadth of pediatric critical illness and injury. The group places a priority in fostering a family-centric, collegial and best practice approach in the care of our children. Our VPS collaborative data has placed our unit in the top 10% nationally in both PRISM III standardized mortality rate and length of stay.
We have very active and growing trauma, chronic ventilation, sedation and palliative care programs. Our children's hospital has thriving hospitalist program and independent pediatric and medicine /pediatric residencies. We also participate in the education of emergency medicine and surgical residents. We have recently renovated our pediatric emergency medicine zone to include family friendly private rooms, acute care and procedure rooms.
The Department of Pediatrics provides the full range of inpatient medical and surgical subspecialty services, including pediatric hospitalists, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, cardiology, genetics, infectious disease and the full spectrum of pediatric surgical subspecialties.
