The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team providing healthcare in inpatient and/or outpatient health care settings. Didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in identified area of clinical practice. Manages women's health care, focusing particularly on pregnancy, childbirth, the post-partum period, care of the newborn, and the family planning and gynecologic needs of women. Practice within the health care system and perform consultation, collaborative management, or referral, as indicated by the health status of the patient. Considers the interpersonal, inter-relationship of gender, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, economic status and socio-political power differentials. With advanced knowledge of nursing theory and its application, the CNM demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsiblity for life-long professional development and competency validation. Practice in accord with the Standards for the Practice of Midwifery, as defined by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
