The Health Commissioner is responsible for ensuring that Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County is a high achieving health department. Serves as the community’s chief health strategist to reduce the leading causes of preventable disease and premature death, to reach out to underserved populations and to promote health equity. Advances foundational Public Health services such as communicable disease control; chronic disease and injury prevention; environmental protections; maternal, child and family health; linkage to clinical care; and emergency preparedness. Aligns coalitions and collective impact models for community health improvement to focus on policy, systems and environmental changes aimed at social determinants of health.
