Are you committed to racial justice? Are you interested in joining a diverse group of talented, driven midwives committed to providing exceptional care in a tertiary care center, and teaching future generations of birth workers and providers? The Midwives at Boston Medical Center are looking to hire a full time faculty midwife to join our practice.
About Our Practice
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a full-service academic practice and tertiary care referral group of 35 physicians, 25 CNMs, and 5 NPs. We care for approximately 3,000 births per year, embracing an interdisciplinary and collaborative model of maternity care. Representing nearly one-third of our faculty, midwives are an important voice in our clinical, educational, and research enterprises as well as our social justice and advocacy programs.
The hospital midwifery service attends approximately 900 births per year on the labor and delivery unit. Our midwives also provide full-scope midwifery care to women in six neighborhood health centers, the hospital OBGYN clinic, and our Adolescent Center to a population that is racially, ethnically and economically diverse. The CNM hospital service includes labor and delivery coverage 24 hours/day, a daily post-partum rounding service and daily coverage of our obstetrical triage unit. We work in a collaborative model with highly supportive obstetricians, perinatologists, and family medicine physicians.
This is a teaching position. Midwives at Boston Medical Center participate in the education of resident physicians, medical students and midwifery students through clinical supervision throughout clinical care, through didactic lectures, and in the simulation lab. Interest in teaching and working within diverse teams of people is essential.
The midwifery service is a multicultural group of 25 midwives who together speak English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, French, and Thai. We are committed to holistic and innovative care for birthing people and their families. We have a robust Centering Pregnancy Program, as well as a multi-cultural doula service offering home visiting and labor support (Birth Sisters).
We welcome another energetic midwife with a passion for birth, a commitment to serving diverse populations, an interest in teaching, and a team-oriented style. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package through Boston University.
Interested candidates send cover letter and resume via e-mail to Rosha Forman, Director of Midwifery Services (email@example.com). Please put “Faculty Midwifery Position” in subject. Phone calls and hard copies discouraged.
