The Division of Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University seeks a board eligible or board-certified pediatric cardiologist to join the division of cardiology as Assistant or Associate Professor in the Clinician Educator line. The major criterion for appointment as a Clinician Educator is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
Academic rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
The Echocardiography Laboratory at Stanford Children’s Health has 11 faculty members who together are responsible for the performance and interpretation of approximately 12,000 pediatric echocardiograms (transthoracic, transesophageal, and fetal) per year both on the Stanford campus (Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital) and at affiliated clinical sites in the Bay Area. Cardiology is also involved in the performance and interpretation of cross-sectional cardiovascular imaging studies (cardiac MRI). In addition to training categorical fellows in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, Laboratory-based faculty members also provide advanced clinical and clinical research training to advanced non-invasive imaging fellows. All faculty are actively engaged in clinical research and/or curriculum development.
Applications will be reviewed beginning November 2021 and accepted until the position is filled.
Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
Stanford is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Stanford welcomes applications from all who would bring additional dimensions to the University’s research, teaching and clinical missions.
The Pediatrics Department, School of Medicine, and Stanford University value faculty who are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates may optionally include as part of their research or teaching statement a brief discussion of how their work will further these ideals.
The successful applicant should have an MD, DO, MBBS degree or equivalent. Candidates should have clinical training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. They should have completed fellowship and be board eligible or certified in pediatric cardiology. Additionally, they should have completed a year of advanced cardiac imaging training or have worked clinically in an echo lab for greater than 10 years. We expect a candidate to be comfortable with the diagnosis and risk stratification of complex congenital heart disease by transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. Additionally, the candidate should have a particular area of expertise within another area of pediatric cardiovascular imaging. This may include (but is not limited to) cross-sectional imaging (cardiac MRI), fetal echocardiography, 3D echocardiography, stress echocardiography or functional imaging. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate sustained excellence in academic productivity.
