ResponsibilitiesCome work with a preeminent team of midwives and nurse practitioners at a world-renowned hospital with a commitment to innovation! Mayo Clinic midwives/NPs are independent providers practicing at the top of their license within a multidisciplinary obstetrical care team focused on compassionate, expert, and personalized care. Mayo Clinic midwives/NPs enjoy high-level resource support in a collaborative, multi-specialty practice with access to specialists in maternal fetal medicine, medical genetics, reproductive medicine, and other medical and surgical specialties as needed throughout the Mayo Clinic Enterprise. In an evidence-based practice where midwives/NPs are an integral part of the culture, you will have opportunities to pursue your professional passions in areas such as obstetrics education, work as a faculty member, or the pursuit of research with strong institutional support.
The vision for the midwives/NPs at Mayo Clinic is to provide the best obstetrical care in the world by modeling evidence based prenatal and postpartum care in a team-based, multidisciplinary structure. Advanced Practice Providers at Mayo Clinic believe that every patient deserves a high-level care team that strives to support their patients in a holistic, whole person way while working with the first-class medical care that is available in the Mayo enterprise. Mayo Clinic midwives/NPs work in the outpatient setting providing antepartum, and postpartum care to women delivering at Mayo Clinic’s flagship location in Rochester, Minnesota and support the obstetric teams at satellite locations within the Mayo Clinic Health System.
OB/MFM midwives/NPs provide prenatal care as part of our complex care team, managing high-risk OB patients within a team-based medical model. Experience with management of chronic hypertension, diabetes, rheumatologic disorder, and other comorbid conditions is highly desired. Mayo Clinic obstetric patients are cared for through an innovative OB nest model that combines telehealth, at home medical devices, hands-on provider care and connected care visits with an OB nurse to reduce on-site visits and expand access to prenatal services based on patient preference and level of acuity. Midwives/NPs work collaboratively with their physician colleagues to provide advanced level care of our high-risk obstetric patients. This position will manage complex patients in conjunction with Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetric physician consultants in a well-supported, team approach. As a unit, obstetrics team members assist in the delivery of more than 2,400 babies each year.
Additional career opportunities include academic advancement, leadership of committees and teams, participation in quality improvement projects and research studies, and development of leading-edge innovation. Midwives/NPs are encouraged to join hospital committees focused on strategic planning and clinical guideline development and management. Midwives/NPs also play an integral role in the clinical education of nurse practitioners, midwives, resident physicians, physician assistants, and medical students. Midwives/NPs are eligible for faculty status through the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and provide didactic and clinical teaching to learners throughout their educational program.
Mayo Clinic midwives/NPs further the advanced practice credential on a national scale through engagement with professional associations, advocacy, publication, and presentation at conferences. Pursue your passion and contribute to the future of advanced practice at the #1 hospital in the United States.
