Cincinnati Children's, an internationally renowned, world class medical center seeks a Director of the Sonya G. Oppenheimer Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.
History of the Division: In 1957, Jack Rubenstein MD founded the Cincinnati Center for Developmental Disorders (CCDD), a program established in advocacy, training, and clinical and community-based services. Federal grants, (the development of federally funded programs to support the prevention, care, and treatment of intellectual disability by the Kennedy administration), service grants, and philanthropy were the primary supports to build a program intended to provide a location where children with disabilities could receive comprehensive care. CCDD joined Cincinnati Children’s as an academic division in 2001. Over the last 20+ years, the division grew in clinical impact and made marked improvements in access, financial stability, and developed and expanded research. Philanthropy has been a significant area of growth in the last few years.
The vision and mission of the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics is to be the leader in improving health, quality of life, and outcomes in children and adolescents with developmental disabilities.
The new Director of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics will build on existing programs and drive innovations that accelerate excellence to galvanize support, inspire generosity, and motivate faculty to build the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics for the benefit of the institution and child health.
The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DDBP) provides care and services for patients and families with developmental disabilities through ongoing dedication to the key pillars of clinical care, research and scholarly activities, education and training, and advocacy. DDBP has ongoing relationships with multiple governmental entities including the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, and the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. Twenty-one faculty members (MD and PhD) compromise this division that embraces a culture that promotes collaboration, respect, inclusion, as well as individual and programmatic growth and development. The Division is an active contributor to the Autism Cares Network and the DBPeds Network. Our faculty hold a number of NIH funded research grants focusing on Down syndrome and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, with current external funding of over $4 million.

DDBP collaborates across several pediatric divisions at Cincinnati Children's, with integrated care models in Spina Bifida, Neurodevelopmental Cardiology Clinic,
Rett Syndrome clinic and strong collaborations with the Divisions of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Genetics, and Gastroenterology and Nutrition. The clinicians participate in approximately 12,000 outpatient encounters each year.
We have robust training programs including an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited developmental-behavioral pediatrics fellowship (6 fellowship positions), as well as programming through the Leadership Education and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities funded by the Maternal Child Health Bureau. The Division provides education, mentoring and supervision to pediatric residency trainees at CCHMC as well as to medical students and other subspecialty Fellows. The Division is also fortunate to have endowments which have been instrumental in supporting community outreach work and pilot studies for grant attainment.

They should have significant experience in building and supporting multidisciplinary team clinical care and science.
