Pediatrician Opportunity, Akron Children's Hospital Pediatrics (ACHP) New Philadelphia
Akron Children's Hospital is dedicated to building a diverse workforce - one that reflects our patient population and represents the communities we serve. Whether you're a resident, a physician early in your career, or a seasoned physician with years of experience, Akron Children's Hospital has something different that's hard to explain. You feel it in the atmosphere as soon as you enter through the doors. You experience it every day with your colleagues, staff, patients and their families. Once you're here, you know you're home.
Akron Children's Hospital Pediatrics (ACHP) brings pediatric primary care for babies, children and teens to many northeast Ohio communities through our 35+ pediatric offices. We have recently expanded our New Philadelphia office to meet the demand of regional growth. This location offers primary care, cardiology, PT, OT, Speech and Mental Health services. The practice is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Pediatrician to join our experienced 3 board certified pediatricians and 7 certified nurse practitioners to provide excellent outpatient care to our patients.
This practice partners with Union Hospital Cleveland Clinic in Dover, Ohio and provides high-risk call in the community. Call will be approximately 1:4 for well newborn nursery coverage. Attendance at deliveries when on call is optional although happens only infrequently. Physicians are compensated above their regular salary when on call for high risk deliveries and may opt out of the high-risk call. There are two neonatal nurse practitioners and pediatric hospitalists that assist in weekend call as well.
Our offices follow standard hospital-based policies, while retaining the local culture of each practice. Our physicians enjoy the use of EPIC as a system-wide integrated electronic health record. Our primary care offices are all PCMH certified. The Patient-Centered Medical Home is a model of care that puts patients at the forefront of care. PCMHs build better relationships between people and their clinical care teams. Research shows that they improve quality, the patient experience and staff satisfaction, while reducing health care costs.

Close to major metropolitan areas, physicians can enjoy quality of life in a safe, comfortable community to raise a family. New Philadelphia is the largest city in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. It is located approximately 70 miles south of Cleveland on the Tuscarawas River. With a population of just over 20,000 people, the city boasts a strong infrastructure while maintaining its small-town charm. The community offers a blend of the traditional and modern, punctuated by an extensive system of parks, lakes, cultural activities and recreational facilities.
As its name suggests, the city of New Philadelphia is laid out in the same grid style as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Even the primary streets - High Avenue and Broadway - are named after two original main streets in Philadelphia. New Philadelphia has one of the lowest crime rates in the state, and recently was voted one of "50 Safest Cities in Ohio." Our area was also listed as one of the "Top 11 Small Towns to Visit in 2021" by "My Town Today."
The new Performing Arts Center at Kent State University Tuscarawas in New Philadelphia is a contemporary 1100-seat theater featuring national tours of hit Broadway musical and dramatic stage productions, musical performers, comedians, and children's productions. The PAC is home to the excellent Tuscarawas County Philharmonic Orchestra. We are home to Ohio's official outdoor drama, a community theater group, and artists and lecturer's series at KSU Tuscarawas.
Sports are a way of life in our region with many private and public golf courses as well as numerous lakes for fishing, boating and sailing. Not far from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, we also offer many sports opportunities for youth as well as adults including basketball, baseball, soccer, football, swimming, tennis and more. Runners, hikers, bikers and families who like to explore have plenty of options including the recreation of the Towpath Trail.
Set in the picturesque, rolling hills of eastern Ohio. By contrast, our interstate highways put us minutes from major airports and the rich cultural benefits of Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh and Akron.
