The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center is a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago. The department invites applications to join our rapidly growing child and adolescent mental health division. Two positions are currently available: 1) general Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and 2) Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist or Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Advanced Practice Provider with specialized interest in autism and neurodevelopmental disabilities (NDDs). Both positions will primarily support outpatient clinical services at the RUMC main campus in downtown Chicago, with options for hybrid (in-clinic/remote) clinics and participation in the development of new clinics.
The Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry includes outpatient, consult-liaison, collaborative care, Literacy Program and specialized multidisciplinary programs in autism/neurodevelopment, trauma-focused interventions, LGBTQ+ and early childhood. This position will offer an excellent opportunity for clinical work and career development with resident and fellow supervision, teaching and potential for an administrative role. In addition to these duties, participation in research projects, community education, as well as academic presentations of clinical and research related work is greatly encouraged and supported.
Qualified candidates must be board certified in Psychiatry and BE/BC in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. For the autism position, a Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Provider with experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across the lifespan would also be considered. This position is focused on direct treatment and training with strong possibility of programmatic growth and development. Additional opportunities exist for innovative delivery of care in non-traditional settings (e.g., schools), including co-location in other medical and non-psychiatric venues. Engagement in clinical research depending on the candidates interest, experience, and professional developmental goals is available.
Successful candidates would participate in specialized diagnostic evaluations, psychopharmacological treatment, and mentor trainees. They are also encouraged to participate in clinical trials and engage with our community outreach through local and national organizations, community education, as well as academic presentations. Opportunities for growing administrative and research leadership skills are available and strongly supported. These positions offer competitive salary, comprehensive benefits and an academic appointment commensurate with experience. Candidates interested in working on supportive, multidisciplinary, dynamic teams, and practice cutting edge medicine through research and community-based interventions models are strongly encouraged to apply.
