RESEARCH ASSISTANT I
The Division of Hematology and Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a Research Assistant 1 to assist Dr. Scott Haake in kidney cancer research. Dr. Haake and his team study the molecular biology of kidney cancer in an effort to improve the lives of affected patients. This position under direct supervision will conduct experiments, record and compile data, prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, and perform other duties necessary to support lab operations. JOB SUMMARY:Provide, under direct supervision, support for specified research projects; collect, assess, and communicate data/results. Assist in general laboratory operation and inventory.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Division has over 20 faculty and over 50 staff members, who participate in a wide-range of clinical programs and clinical and basic science research. Training the next generation of physicians and scientists is a major part of our mission and involves an Endocrinology Training Program and a Medical Student Research Program.
The Division provides in-patient and out-patient care at two hospitals, Vanderbilt University Hospital and the Nashville Veterans Administration Hospital. We strive for excellence in patient care, and this has been recognized by our ranking as one of the best programs in Diabetes and Endocrinology by the US News and World Report.
Investigators in the Division conduct biomedical research ranging from laboratory-based to clinical investigation to outcomes and quality research. Research in the Division is supported by the National Institutes of Health, the American Diabetes Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International, the Research Service of the Veterans Association as well as private foundations and pharmaceutical companies.
