Dean, College of Medicine
Northeast Ohio Medical University
Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) seeks applications, inquiries, and nominations for the position of Dean, College of Medicine. This is a unique opportunity for the next Dean to significantly impact the region's local health care needs and influence the next generation of health care professionals and leaders in the region and beyond.
NEOMED, founded in 1973 to meet Northeast Ohio's critical need for primary care physicians, is a community-based, publicly supported health sciences university with colleges of medicine, pharmacy, and graduate studies. The College of Medicine is in its fifth decade of developing physicians for and from Ohio, with many of its students focusing on patient-centered care in underserved areas. The college has approximately 623 medical school students spanning pre-clinical and clinical years, over 2,300 full-time and affiliated faculty members, and 13 academic departments.
Reporting to the President of the University, the Dean is charged with advancing the education and research missions of the college and is a vital partner in framing the strategic direction for the clinical enterprise. The Dean is expected to foster interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaborations within the college, across campus, and in the community; to promote open, transparent, and inclusive communication; and to facilitate strategic planning and goal development across the college in unison with the campus's broader 2020-2025 Strategic Plan: Creating Transformational Health Care Leaders. NEOMED harnesses diversity, innovation, and collaboration to create transformative leaders and improve health through education, discovery, and service. The next Dean will be expected to enhance internal and external collaborations and partnerships, increase impactful research and scientific discoveries and continue to assess and innovate medical education to solidify NEOMED's regional and national reputation as an institution educating health care leaders of the future.
The incoming Dean will have a national reputation for scholarly achievement and demonstrated record of excellence in research, education, and clinical service. The successful candidate will be a proven academic medicine leader with demonstrated ability to engage with faculty, students, staff, community leaders, and alumni to develop and execute a vision supporting the college's broad educational, research, and public service missions. Candidates must possess the M.D. degree and a demonstrated track record of progressive administrative leadership experience in an academic medicine environment.
Please direct all nominations and applications to Joyce De Leo, Ph.D., Claudia Teschky, Michael Anderson, M.D., and Tiffany Johnson, preferably via e-mail, to NEOMEDDean@wittkieffer.com or 916-536-6888.
