ChristianaCare is currently seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife for a full time Inpatient/Outpatient Midwife position at ChristianaCare. The Nurse Midwife will work closely with our OB/GYN physicians and ancillary staff in the hospital and clinic setting. ChristianaCare provides a range of medical services for women at all stages of life focusing on both physical and emotional wellbeing of our patients.
The Nurse Midwife will provide primary gynecologic and obstetric care to women in the outpatient clinic, along with assisting physicians with deliveries and managing the care of women during labor and delivery within established protocols, guidelines, and procedures.
- Provide primary gynecologic care to women including annual exams, evaluation, and management of medical conditions.
- Provide pre-natal outpatient care to pregnant women in the outpatient clinical setting
- Order, interpret and communicate results of appropriate lab tests and prescribe care and/or medications based on test results
- Within the scope of their education, training, and credentialing, provide full-scope care for obstetrical patients in the inpatient setting including
- Monitoring the medical condition of the mother and baby throughout labor and delivery
- Maintaining contact with supervising obstetrician as appropriate
- Maintaining full and accurate medical record of patient's delivery
- Instructing L&D nurses as they assist with the delivery process
- Managing medical care to mother post-delivery
- Taking appropriate action when medical complications arise including alerting supervising obstetrician
Requirements:
- Certified Nurse Midwife degree
- License or license eligible as a Midwife in the State of Delaware
- Minimum of two years of related experience required
