The Department of Radiology at the University of Vermont Medical Center is expanding and seeking a Diagnostic Neuroradiologist.
Ours is an academic practice of 40+ full and part-time radiologists who serve as the clinical faculty for a 24 member ACGME-approved Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at the University of Vermont. UVMMC is affiliated with The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont.
The University of Vermont Medical Center is the only tertiary referral center for the catchment area of Vermont and Northern upstate New York. The department and section are part of the larger University of Vermont Health Network in Northern Vermont and New York; comprising 6 smaller hospitals in addition to the University of Vermont Medical Center.
The successful candidate would join the growing Division of Neuroradiology which is currently composed of 5.0 FTE diagnostic neuroradiologists. Neurointervention is not a requirement for this position. There is an ACGME-approved neuroradiology fellowship and plans to initiate a second fellowship position. Facilities include state-of-the-art MRI and CT scanners with a close business and technical development relationship with a major vendor.
Responsibilities include daily medical student, resident and fellow teaching, transdisciplinary conferences with neurosurgery, neurology, pathology and neuro-oncology, and approximately 1:6 weeks of call, with in house coverage after hours provided by residents. No attending in house evening or night shifts. Weekend shifts can be staffed from home on hospital-provided workstations.
Opportunities for protected time for scholarly activity are offered. A 3.0 Tesla dedicated research scanner operated by the University of Vermont MRI Center for Biomedical Imaging is housed in the Radiology Department and staffed by full time by experienced research technologists as well as an MR physicist. We also have active research programs in health services and a long history of successful global health initiatives, providing collaboration and mentorship opportunities.
This is a Clinical Scholar Pathway full-time position in the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor Rank. Applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited neuroradiology fellowship and must be ABR certified or eligible and subspecialty-certified or eligible. The position is 1.0 FTE neuroradiology and encompasses all fields of diagnostic neuroradiology including pediatric neuroradiology, head and neck imaging, and advanced MR imaging.
The compensation package is competitive and faculty rank is commensurate with experience.
Vermont is a beautiful, safe, and active place to live. Burlington, Vermont, has continually been voted one of the nicest cities in which to live as well as one of America’s most “fit” cities due to the four seasons of outdoor activities. Burlington is located on Lake Champlain, 45 minutes from world-class skiing, 1.5 hours by car from Montreal, and has an international airport with direct flights to many major cities.
The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service. Applicants are requested to include in their cover letter information about how they will further this goal.
The University of Vermont is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other category legally protected by federal or state law. The University encourages applications from all individuals who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution.
Review of applications will begin immediately. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
