Responsibilities
⢠Responsible for obtaining, organizing, assessing, and coordinating each patient's preoperative documentation and diagnostic testing prior to the patientâ™s surgery.
⢠Ability to correlate clinical data with the patient's medical and nursing care
⢠Ability to set priorities
⢠Possess attention to detail with the ability to problem solve patient issues when they arise
⢠Ability to communicate well and clearly with patients, familyâ™s member of the healthcare team, physicians, anesthesiologists, physician offices and nurse managers
⢠Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice
⢠Screens each patient prior to surgery as acceptable candidates for surgery
⢠Works closely with the physicians, physicians♠offices, nurse managers, anesthesiologists and patients ensuring the patient is prepared for admission on the day of surgery
⢠Responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of critical pathways and in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- One year of pre-op, PACU, and/or medical / surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
- Specialty certification in Perioperative or perianesthesia Nursing is preferred.
