PURPOSE OF POSITION: To conduct research in type 1 Diabetes/ Adherence and Self-Management, with a focus on social determinants of health and/or health equity. To participate in teaching; training; scholarly activities and/or service/administration. Responsible for initiating; soliciting; and coordinating well-designed research projects that have potential for external funding. May participate in activities to plan; direct; implement; coordinate and improve services and technical operations within the research activities of the organization. To work with Scientific Directors and colleagues to maximize the function of the organization's scientists and clinician-scientists. To provide communicate and implement strategic operational and programmatic plans and policies to achieve the mission; vision and values of Cincinnati Children's.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
To develop a programmatic line of research in pediatric Type I Diabetes/Adherence and Self-monitoring and health equity. Responsible for designing and executing well-designed research projects and seeking and obtaining external (NIH or equivalent) funding. Will work with Director
of Research and colleagues to maximize launch and success of funded portfolio of research over time. Participate in teaching and training in scholarly activities as well as direct the technical operations of research studies.
-Service and/or Administration:
Serve as a role model of effective interpersonal & intrapersonal relationships & encourage team concepts.
Demonstrates on-going commitment to and participates in scholarly activities at an advanced level as evidenced by: publication of original research investigation, educational research, clinical observations, reviews, chapters or books; leadership role in research trials, and/or research investigations; membership on editorial boards or editorship of textbooks or journals. Applies advanced training in research methods to design and conduct clinical research on various areas of clinical specialty. Develop research programs in area of clinical specialty. Demonstrate effectiveness in securing grant funding of research initiatives and programs mentors and assist other faculty in grantsmanship. Develop and growth of new externally funded research initiatives. Develop a program that receives extramural support in the form of major grants from the National Institutes of Health or other sources.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
PhD in clinical psychology or related field. Postdoctoral training in research, preference for research with Type I Diabetes/Adherence and self-monitoring and/or health disparities.
Strong history of research publications and presentations at scientific meetings.
Preferred: Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds.
- Analytical ability: Analytical ability required to evaluate data and make judgements about clinical research
- Methodology: Knowledge of research methodology, practice specialty, growth and development, and family centered care.
