The Department of Cardiovascular Services is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant to work full-time supporting our Interventional Cardiology program at Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida. This position will be full-time 5 days per week. This position functions in collaboration with a multidisciplinary patient care team and is responsible for performing direct patient care services in collaboration with an attending physician, assisting in diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Catheterization procedures and supporting the overall care of the children receiving services in the Cardiovascular Services Department.
Essential Functions:
- Elicits comprehensive or focused/interval health history (ies).
- Performs complete or focused physical examinations.
- Operates hemodynamic/physiologic recording, digital cineangiographic and electrophysiologic equipment; Performs and interprets hemodynamic waveforms.
- Operates complex physiologic recording computer system including routine programs for diagnostic procedures and special measurement programs for interventional procedures
- Appropriately documents pertinent information in the patient's electronic medical record, providing timely and accurate records. Maintains databases for storage and retrieval of patient information for research projects as appropriate
- Maintains proper performance of physiologic recording equipment and biplane digital angiographic equipment. Recognizes and trouble shoots problems with equipment.
- Assists the physician during diagnostic and interventional procedures, EP studies, pacemaker implantation and related procedures in the CICU and OR.
- With the approval of the Medical Director, Chief of Cardiology and Administrator, develops policies and procedures for quality control of physiologic recording processes, digital recording processes and record storage and retrieval systems. Monitors quality control indicators
- Maintains clinical competency in all aspects of cardiac catheterization and provides direct patient care as needed
- Initiates any other measure for which the Advanced Practice Provider has been trained depending on patient's condition and judgement of the physician and the Advanced Practice Provider
Requirements:
- Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or Current appropriate national certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner
- Clear and active license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Florida
- American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (BLS)
- American Heart Association - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- American Heart Association - Adult Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
