JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Anesthesiology has a PRN Staff Anesthesiologist position available at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital. The position is responsible for acting as attending anesthesiologist with direct responsibility for patient care. Qualified candidates must meet all credentialing, licensure and background checks required by VUMC, the Vanderbilt Medical Group, and Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital.
TN medical license, DEA registration required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administers general or regional anesthesia through spinal, intravenous, inhalational, caudal or local methods.
- Determining when patients are stabilized enough to be moved after an operation.
- Supervising anesthesia providers (CRNAs)
- Following procedure, anesthesiologist continues to monitor and manager patient's condition and may be involved in management of pain.
- Direct provision of anesthesia
- Care of a wide range of patients including simple pediatric cases down to age = 1
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed Medical Doctor in TN (Required)
Residency in Anesthesiology required
MD (or equivalent experience) (Required)
Doctorate/PhD (or equivalent experience) and 4 years experience
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):
- Licensed Medical Doctor Required

- Occasional: Vision: Clarity of near vision at 20 inches or less and far vision at 20 feet or more with depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision.
- Frequent: Noise: May include exposure to occupational noise levels which equal or exceed an 8-hr time-weighted average of 85 decibels, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Hearing Conservation Program which includes training, use of hearing protection, and periodic audiometry.
- Continuous: Communication: Expressing or exchanging written/verbal/electronic information.
