The University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Department of Pediatrics (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu) and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego (http://www.rchsd.org) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking to recruit an academic physician as the Chief of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at UCSD and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. We are looking for an innovative leader to develop new collaborative research programs across disciplines.
Our diverse and talented faculty and staff together provide clinical services to a highly diverse patient population in San Diego County; deliver medical/adolescent teaching and health education to a wide variety of trainees; conduct research and advocacy across multiple domains; and are committed to evidenced-based science across programs, practice, and policy.
The clinical practice provides consultative, evidenced-based, trauma-informed, culturally aware, and confidential care for youth aged 10-26 years in San Diego County. Clinic services include eating and nutritional disorder management, mental health assessment with medication management, comprehensive contraceptive services including placement of long-acting reversible contraceptives, medical management of menstrual and gynecologic disorders, and STI screening and treatment. The division is also responsible for outpatient services for the Center for Gender-Affirming Care as well as the inpatient Medical Behavioral Unit (eating disorders medical stabilization unit).
Candidates must have an MD/DO or MD/Ph.D., in health related fields or equivalent degree and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Preferred candidates will have a substantial background, expertise, and funded research in General Pediatrics or Adolescent Medicine. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research, or service toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment are preferred.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
