SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Monterey County Health Department, Clinic Services Bureau is seeking to fill Clinic Nurse Practitioner positions.
The Clinic Services Bureau operates ten clinics and provides care to the medically underserved population in Monterey County. The mission of the Bureau is to provide quality primary medical care services for all residents of Monterey County regardless of the ability to pay and assures that high quality services are provided at the lowest possible cost. Monterey County Health Department clinics are located in Salinas, Seaside and Marina and provide family practice, women's health, internal medicine, pediatric, behavioral health, and specialty services.
The Clinic Nurse Practitioner will provide primary care services in an ambulatory outpatient clinic setting. Incumbent will perform comprehensive medical assessment of patients and establish medical diagnosis for patients, both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Clinic Nurse Practitioner may indirectly supervise Medical Assistants, and address action items according to medical standards and clinic policies and procedures.
The Eligible List established by this recruitment process may be used to fill current and future vacancies on a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary basis.

Any combination of training, education, and/or experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities and required conditions of employment is qualifying. An example of a way these requirements might be acquired is:
Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner training program leading to licensure as a Nurse Practitioner by California Board of Nursing with any required specialty area and demonstrated ability to provide the full scope of patient care.
Three to five years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner with demonstrated ability to provide the full scope of care for higher acuity patients, in the area of specialty, with little supervision.
