Position Summary
The Pediatric Palliative Care program at Phoenix Children’s seeks a full time BE/BC pediatric palliative care physician.
The Phoenix Children’s Palliative Care program is a robust clinical service, providing both inpatient and outpatient consultations and ongoing visits to children with serious medical conditions. The program currently includes 7 HPM board certified physicians, nurse practitioner, full time psychology and social work support, a bereavement program, affiliated interdisciplinary team support and an ACGME accredited fellowship program. The palliative medicine consultation service works closely with colleagues in oncology, critical care, cardiology, general pediatrics, and numerous other specialties in the hospital. In addition, this program works closely with the local hospice agency that provides pediatric home hospice services, home palliative care, and care in the inpatient hospice unit.
This is a 1.0 FTE clinical position with duties in both the inpatient and outpatient consultation service. Faculty appointment through the University of Arizona is expected with teaching opportunities for fellows, residents and medical students. This program uses a consultation service model. It is anticipated that this program will continue to expand services and candidates with interest in program development, research, and fellowship development are encouraged to apply.
The staff physician shall provide patient care services and will support the PCH mission of providing hope, healing and the best health care for children and their families.
Education
- MD or DO degree. (Required)
Certifications
- Current Arizona License to Practice Medicine or the ability to obtain prior to start date. (Required)
- Board certified/Board Eligible in the appropriate specialty. (Required)
Special Skills
- The ability to move freely from facility to facility, as well as, the ability to move freely throughout facilities and examine patients. (Required)
- The ability to communicate by telephone, computer or other communication devices. (Required)
- The ability to perform after hours or night call responsibilities as needed. (Required)
