Research Analyst 1
Under direct supervision, provide support for research related to autism spectrum disorders. This includes providing support for psychologists and research staff working with families of children with autism spectrum disorder, reviewing medical and educational records, providing administrative support for the laboratory, assisting in general laboratory maintenance, and collecting, entering, and assisting in the organization and analysis of data.
Key functions:
- Collect and organize data from a variety of reference sources
- Prepare charts, graphs, and tables according to accepted research practices
- Perform preliminary analysis
- Assist in investigating and gathering data
- Route questionnaires, record information and distribute results using established procedures
- Assist with recruiting and interviewing study participants
- Review and extract pertinent information from medical and educational records
- Provide appropriate documentation for research
- Update manual and/or automated database file and maintain records
- Assist in the preparation of materials for publication
- Edit and/or type manuscripts according to accepted practices
- Keep abreast of trends in field of study
- Read professional journals and attend meetings and/or seminars
- Support psychologists and research staff during participant appointments
- Consent families for research
- Assist in supervising children during research appointments
- Potentially assist with administering cognitive and adaptive measures
- May supervise student assistants
- Plan and assign work
- May assist in lab maintenance
- Order supplies and equipment
- Monitor and maintain inventory control
- Ensure that the appropriate materials are set up and taken down for research appointments
*** Minimum Qualifications Required ***
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) and < 1 year experience
No experience required but familiarity with the field of developmental disabilities preferred

- Light Work category requiring exertion up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and uses negligible amounts of force to move objects.

Sensory
- Occasional: Vision: Clarity of near vision at 20 inches or less and far vision at 20 feet or more with depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision.
- Frequent: Noise: May include exposure to occupational noise levels which equal or exceed an 8-hr time-weighted average of 85 decibels, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Hearing Conservation Program which includes training, use of hearing protection, and periodic audiometry.
- Continuous: Communication: Expressing or exchanging written/verbal/electronic information.
