Description The Heart Institute at Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic board-certified Interventional Cardiologist to serve as the Director of Interventional Cardiology and Co-Director of the Valve Program. The ideal candidate will be a recognized leader in interventional cardiology, with exceptional clinical expertise in complex and high-risk PCI, endovascular procedures, and/or percutaneous valve interventions. A strong track record of teaching, mentoring, and research is essential. Stony Brook Medicine has interventional oversight at the Southampton Hospital and the Northport Veterans Affairs Hospital, offering broad and diverse opportunities.

Our interventional cardiology program features state-of-the-art procedures including hemodynamic measurements, complex PCI/atherectomy (rotational, orbital, laser), intravascular lithotripsy, CTO reperfusion, IVUS/OCT/FFR/IFR, microvascular disease testing, peripheral interventions, TAVR, MitraClip/TMVR, tricuspid repair, balloon valvuloplasty, paravalvular leak closure, PFO/ASD/VSD closure, LAAO, endomyocardial biopsy, renal denervation, CardioMEMS, and a cardiogenic shock team with Impella/ECMO at a Level III trauma center.
The interventional suite is equipped with new state-of-the-art Phillips equipment and includes four active interventional cardiology suites, two electrophysiology suites, and access to Hybrid OR suites. A 23-bay holding area and a dedicated team of NPs, RNs, and radiation technologists provide 24/7 support.
You will be part of a collegial, innovative, and award-winning faculty committed to excellence in patient care, mentoring, and teaching within our large cardiology and interventional fellowship programs. We serve a population of 1.5 million people in Suffolk County, with additional patients from Nassau County, New York City, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Stony Brook University Hospital has been ranked among the top 100 Hospitals for cardiac care and coronary interventions by Healthgrades for the past eight years. We hold Chest Pain Center with PCI and Resuscitation accreditation by the American College of Cardiology and are a leading enroller in multiple clinical trials. Qualifications Required Qualifications: U.S. licensed physician, board-certified or board-eligible in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology. Demonstrated leadership abilities with a proven track record in mentoring and developing junior faculty and fellows. Experience in collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, radiology, and anesthesiology. Proven success in developing interventional cardiology programs, establishing new service lines, and integrating emerging technologies. Strong background in teaching and promoting research.
Preferred Qualifications: Seven or more years of post-fellowship experience, with a significant role in clinical trials and/or translational research. In-depth understanding of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements in interventional cardiology. Active involvement and leadership in national or international cardiology societies. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive faculty, staff, and student environment. Proven experience in leading quality improvement initiatives and promoting patient safety within an interventional cardiology program.
