Department Overview
Position Summary
The director of GME is responsible for the organization, direction, implementation and quality management for education programs for physicians-in-training, advance practice trainees and other designated GME trainees as assigned by the Chief Education Officer (CEdO) sponsored by Children's Minnesota. This includes all graduate medical education (GME) activities involving medical students, physician assistant students, APP/APRN students, residents and fellows. Reports to: Chief Education Officer.
Qualifications
*Physician licensed in the state of Minnesota required
*Board certified in Pediatrics/ Pediatric Specialty required
*A clinical or full-time faculty appointment in the University of Minnesota Medical School department of pediatrics required
*Active provision of clinical care for children at Children's Minnesota (at least 1 day/week) required
*Demonstrated ability and excellence as a physician educator required
*Knowledge of principles of medical education required
*Prior experience with formally or informally leading people preferred
*Knowledge of Joint Commission and ACGME requirements for graduate medical education
*Knowledge of medical education financing
*Excellent communication skills
*Excellent organization and management skills
*Excellent problem-solving skills
*DHS background study required
